Penciled notes on fly leaf read "Bound by [unredable}. Tooled by {unreadable]. LCC Cent School." These notes and the binding's appearance suggest this was bound at London County Council Central School of Arts & Crafts--possibly by accomplished students. Well-illustrated; numerous color plates of exteriors and interior design, and color charts for the various products. Full purple-blue morocco, upper cover gilt with title enclosed by ornamental cartouche & rules, spine similarly decorated, wide turn-ins gilt, moire endpapers, all edges gilt, in fleece-lined full blue pigskin slipcase. Spine uniformly faded to a darker blue; small scuff to head, but about fine. Tipped-in printed note: "This book is bound at the School of Apprentices...with acid-free leather specially manufactured according to the recommendation of the [Royal] Society of Arts Committee on Bookbinding."](/veatch/images/items/80x160/15521.jpg)
