9.5 x 17 cm. (i)-viii, (9)-288 pages, followed by 25 binder's blanks of laid paper in similar color and weight to the text paper. Page 206 is mis-numbered 209. Some toning of text block, first 80 pages, possibly from the ink used; otherwise the contents are about fine. Fine turn-of-the-century binding of turquoise morocco gilt tooled with stylized vines, flowers, & dots on covers & spine, board edges with dots & rule; doublures of turquoise morocco with wide border gilt tooled with vines, leaves & dots, while a center panel of tan calf is diapered with acorns & dots; a striped ribbon place marker echoes the headband colors; top edge gilt; tan & green marbled endpaper. Old bookseller's description mounted on blank leaf. Spine slightly toned, but fine in cloth traycase. A penciled note states the book was bound by Pawson & Nicholson in 1901.

6 1/2 x 9 1/2. This is a collection of 13 offprints from journals of articles written by Hart. It was bound for the Hart family by Pawson & Nicholson (stamp signed) in dark green morocco sides paneled with several borders & dentelle design, wide turn-ins richly gilt, moire satin endpapers, top edge gilt. Light edge wear, a very good copy. Name "Anita Hart" on blank.

Folio, 10 1/2 x 16. Etched frontis signed, i-(v), 87 French-fold pages. Twenty-one birds and 17 animals are depicted in one or more engravings (55 engravings in all). Each page is set within a red rule border. The appropriate line from Shakespeare is also printed in red, with more quotation and commentary in black. Bound in full citro morocco, five raised bands, titled in gold on upper cover. With an extra suite of the engravings, in cloth portfolio, numbered and signed. Both volumes in cloth tray case with leather spine label. Fine, with prospectus.

In a superb Roger Powell binding of dark green morocco, text gilt-tooled in capitals on both covers; twenty-seven Chinese seals in 8 colors are onlaid on covers; striped Oriental rice-paper endpapers, all edges gilt. Signed in blind with Powell's device on rear turn-in, and dated 1974. Powell's original morocco-backed case has some wear. The binding is in fine condition.

Tooled by {unreadable]. LCC Cent School." These notes and the binding's appearance suggest this was bound at London County Council Central School of Arts & Crafts--possibly by accomplished students. Very good condition.

Contemporary red morocco, covers with double gilt fillet border enclosing a double gilt panel, the outer panel border formed by a single ornamented roll with a crown at each corner, the inner panel border formed by two ornamental rolls with corner crowns; unlettered spine with six raised bands, compartments filled with gilt ornaments, all edges gilt; "Dutch" gilt floral endpapers stamp signed Johann Lupus Ehinger. Small paper label with manuscript shelf mark ("Q6") in upper corner of pastedown. Corners and joints rubbed; spine faded to brown, joints splitting at top two inches, leaves F1-H2 slightly cockled at lower outer margin. Still a handsome copy.

The central emblem of Aurora in her chariot is surrounded by elaborate, dense floriate designs and a border; spine also embossed, with gilt tile at head. The binding is signed in the design; and there's an oval ticket at rear. Engraved title & last plate foxed, occasional light foxing elsewhere. The binding has minor rubbing at extremities, but is a fine, handsome, and very early example of Remnant & Edmonds' embossed plaques.

Eve in the Garden of Eden with the snake is inlaid on the upper cover in white, various greens, black, & red morocco. Adam's panel fills the lower cover. The designs reflect King's illustrations. The rounded spine has title inlaid in white morocco, the letter"O" replaced by a red apple. Pastedowns are white morocco; flyleaves are black vellum. Protected by a suede-lined black cloth traycase with white pigskin spine label. The case has light soil & wear. Rennie's binding is in perfect condition.

Bound by Charles de Samblanx in Romantic style in black straight grain morocco, central Arabesque in gold with raised design painted pink, green, & gold; pink calf doubles with multiple gilt rules, elaborate corner pieces inlaid with turquoise morocco; pink moire flyleaves, marbled endpapers (one with the armorial bookplate of Baron de Launoit); spine richly gilt is signed at the foot. The original (and meant to be temporary) wraps with label are bound in. Extremely slight wear. Fine copy of a very pretty book.

Full purple-blue morocco, upper cover gilt with title enclosed by ornamental cartouche & rules, spine similarly decorated, wide turn-ins gilt, moire endpapers, all edges gilt, in fleece-lined full blue pigskin slipcase. Spine uniformly faded to a darker blue; small scuff to head, but about fine. Tipped-in printed note: "This book is bound at the School of Apprentices...with acid-free leather specially manufactured according to the recommendation of the [Royal] Society of Arts Committee on Bookbinding."

Both covers are cracked along joints but still attached by linen tapes. Housed in a sturdy cloth chemise & cloth slipcase with leather spine label. Publisher's printed notice mounted inside front cover states that copies were bound also in morocco, and that this copy could be returned to the publisher for a morocco rebinding. The gilt paper, however, seems far more appropriate for this fictional diary.
