The architectural framework of chimneys & roof top supported by columns is fashioned from printers' rules and ornaments (printers' flowers). Alarge cut of the American eagleis poised between them. The text is enclosed by three borders (Greek key, composite fleurons, and a "picket fence" style). There are some professional repairs and strengthenings to the edges and to fold lines, and to 3 small holes (2 with some loss of text). There is some light tanning or foxing, but over-all this is a very good, handsome piece tipped into archival mat.
9 1/2 x 13. Twelve fascicules in cloth tray case covered with paper marbled by the artist. There are 10 color woodcuts: two are double spread on full sheets folded twice; 8 are smaller woodcuts mounted on the larger sheet. The double-spread of Isola di San Giorgio is signed. Fine.
