10 x 10 when closed. A carousel book of five scene panels, each containing a pop-up, and five Chorus panels. Each scene panel resembles a stage setting with an architectural background. A single line from each scene is printed on the stage. Separating each scene is the Chorus--beginning "Two households both alike in dignity...." Below that is printed the artist's commentaries. To represent the timelessness of the play's subject, the artist inserted modern equivalents for Verona (Bosnia, Israel, Rwanda, America). Bound in boards covered with an architectural monoprint in black & grey on handmade flax paper, open spine. Housed in a tray case. Fine.
5 x 7 1/4 (186 x 128 mm). Two parts in one volume: (viii), 89, (16) pages. Printer's device at end of each part. Seventeenth or eighteenth century mottled sheep. A very good copy, with generous margins.
