Shanty Bay, 2011. 10 1/2 x 15. 52 pages including 8 multi-colored linocuts and 4 full page pochoir illustrations; with two smaller pochoirs. Quarter cloth & cloth fore edges, the sides covered in a red & black linocut. Fine in slipcase, with colorful prospectus. Item #16139

A wonderfully vibrant book on the idea of the artist and the circus, from the era of Picasso and Cezanne. Both artists created great circus paintings and influenced Bachinski's art. Authors include Apollinaire on Picasso, Cyril Beaumont on Nijinski, Baudelaire, Cocteau, Laforgue, Henry Miller, Rilke, and Twain. The texts--all in English-- "are funny, surreal, serious, and poignant, and all have to do with the circus. With this book, I hope to simulate the activity of the three ring circus, where something different is happening in each ring" --Bachinski. One of 60 signed copies printed on a Vandercook and bound by Janis Butler.
