Item #16378
An extraordinary visual history of American wood types, with a huge range of examples. In his text, Kelly describes each specimen, giving as much information as possible about the each type--its name, type of cut, manufacturer, first showing, source of design, missing components. Beautifully printed (no easy task with wood type) by Kelly on a hand press, mostly in black with a bit of red, and some decorative pieces. No. 4 of 45 signed copies. There are only two auction records for this in the last 45 years. A rare specimen, with almost all copies (at least 32 copies) held in institutions.
