One of 160 copies, signed by Middleton, who printed this work on a Washington handpress, in black & red. Nine of the wood engravings are printed from the original blocks for "Birds" and Quadrupeds." Bewick, with his white line engravings on endgrain, is considered the "Father of wood engraving."
