The book opens to several feet, and is fitted with a flap to hold the book so all specimens are visible at the same time. The samples are given their original names from the Aschaffenberg catalogues and the dates that paper was made (e.g. "Shell Marbles 1811- 1910 Türkisch-Marmor") along with a brief description of the processes employed. These c19 and early c20 decorated papers are marbled, patterned, roller-printed, paste papers, gilt, moiré, and imitation leather. Some of the specimens came from the collections of Tanya Schmoller and Erik Schots. Frigge researched papers of the Dessauer factory in Aschaffenburg. This is the first book in an intended series of historical sample books. One of 110 signed copies.
