Walt Whitman was a favorite author of Frasconi, who created two other books about the poet: A Whitman Portrait and Thirteen Verses from "When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom'd.. One of 25 signed copies. Text was printed letterpress on Rives paper at the Spiral Press. The artist printed his woodblocks on Hosho handmade paper; these are tipped to the page facing the text.
