To Persephone. Poems by Eavan Boland, Rita Dove, Rachel Blau DuPlessis, Celia Gilbert, Louise Glücvk, A. D. Hope, Stanley Kunitz, Laurie Sheck, and Nancy Willard. Lithographs by Enid Mark.

Wallingford, PA: ELM Press, 2000. 14 x 9 1/2. Nine poems by contemporary poets who plumb the emotional depths of the myth. The poems, (two of which are previously uncollected), are accompanied by a sequence of lithographs—a foldout frontispiece, a centerfold spread, and a foldout endpiece. When the book lies open at the centerfold, and the first and last pages are extended, the panels, printed in multilayered cream, grays and blacks, reveal a continuous landscape. Separating the poems are translucent leaves printed with pomegrantes. Bound in cream linen over boards; recessed panel on upper cover holds 6 glass pomegranate seeds. Laid into the case is the series of lithographs connected. Fine in tray case. Item #18765
