About Us

The Veatchs have been antiquarian booksellers since 1975. We specialize in the history of the book. It is a broad field encompassing papermaking, typefounding, printing, graphic design, color printing, illustration techniques, calligraphy, and bookbinding. We are especially interested in notable examples of book-making from all periods, early and modern fine printing, historical & publishers' bindings, designer bindings.

Over the years we've been fortunate to acquire some fine collections of private presses, wood engraving, and the work of Leonard Baskin from the estates of John DePol, Philip Sperling, John Peckham, and Harold Hugo, among others that we are free to mention. From The Morgan Library we purchased duplicates in Julia Wightman's bookbinding collection. A highlight was Jack Golden's superb library of printing history and graphic design. We actively seek fine books and entire libraries. In all transactions, we are very discreet.

We are members of many bibliographic and printing historical societies, and of  The Grolier Club. Professional memberships include the ABAA (Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America), and ILAB (International League of Antiquarian Booksellers).
